Also - do you have an airbrush preference for fine lines? My Paasche H doesn’t get fine enough for my imagination...

Hi Geoff, I do try and purchase when I can locally even if it's a few dollars more. In some cases where I can't get the item or it's much cheaper even with postage and currency conversion to order overseas.

The British pound taking a hit thanks to Brexit made things very attractive to order from there and I find things arrive in less than 2 weeks. I have not yet *crosses fingers* with shipping delays. Places I have ordered from include:

Ultimate Modelling Products https://www.umpretail.com/

Hannants https://www.hannants.co.uk/

Emodels https://www.emodels.co.uk/

I have also ordered in the past from Hong Kong from http://www.luckymodel.com/

You'll notice there are no US stores listed such as Squadron or Sprue Brothers, I just find shipping between US and Canada (and vise-versa according to US-based folks) is just too expensive.

I have done item for item comparisons with US and UK stores. and both times I did, the exact same order cost me $20-30 less when everything was factored in. The exchange rate for the UK pound played a part but I've yet to be disappointed.

Your mileage may vary.

As for an airbrush, I have a Badger 150, a Patriot 105 and I'm awaiting delivery of a Sotor 20/20 which will do very fine detail work. All of these are made by Badger which uses a different diameter air hose then Paasche H if I recall, but converters are available.

Decaling has started, no problems with these Airfix decals, going on quite smoothly.

Thanks for all that info Stu - the US shipping makes me crazy, so much that I have on occasion driven to Troy Michigan to pick up stuff from Great Lakes Hobbies. I haven’t tried ordering from the locals , but I really prefer to keep a local shop open!

Stu - I found a PDF version of a 2007 issue of a Scale Aircraft Modelling with an article on building the 1/72 Airfix TSR2 as a might have been. Interested, or do you have it?
