The May Meeting was our first attempt at adding digital video media to the club. We tested podcasting equipment as well as a DSLR camera. Future plans include videos of presentations and demonstrations and possible availability of full meeting video for our members who cannot make it to the live meeting. More about this in upcoming meetings.
The Show and Tell section of the meeting contained many examples of models that received recognition for excellence at the Torcan Model Show. IPMS London was well represented at the show and many members came home with medals. Congratulations to all the winners as well as all that entered models in the contest.
We had a guest (David Phair) from the Sarnia Area Scale Modelers Group. Dave brought a selection of his modeling work for the Show and Tell. Some very nice examples of that branch of the hobby.
The Theme Content of this meeting was “Master Panel” where members brought forward their questions to a panel of the clubs master builders. This was well received with many interesting questions and insightful answers. Thank you very much to the panel.
The JUNE Meeting will be at 7pm, Wednesday June 14TH at Earl Nichols Recreation Centre Meeting Hall. The venue is located at 799 Homeview Road in London. To all those bringing models for the show and tell section of the meeting, they will be displayed as usual on the center tables for all to inspect and appreciate, but there will be no formal review of the table as we will be tight for time due to the programme content of the show.
PROGRAM CONTENT: This months programme will be a demonstration of weathering techniques that will include, but not be limited to, the Hairspray Technique of Micro Chipping. This demonstration will be given by Dave Browne who is acknowledged around the world as a Master Model Builder and also the proud owner of an excellent hobby store located in the GTA. Dave will be bringing a small selection of products with him so anyone interested in purchasing please bring cash.
Hope to see you there!
Gerry – President
