Shown at the 2004 Joint Services Open House at Andrews Air Force Base was this example
of the very new F/A-22A Raptor. Having just entered service with the United States Air Force, the opportunity to see the real
thing for the first time was quite a treat.
Above: Here sits the latest blend of stealth and lethality.
The F/A-22 Raptor is both sleek and menacing.

A nose on view of the Raptor
showing the large air intakes and twin tails. The crew access ladder is attached, but the public was not invited to climb
aboard.

Looking down the right side
of the Raptor one is struck by how large the aircraft really is.

A close up view of the raised
canopy and access ladder. Note the red cover on the head’s up display unit.

Looking down the lower portion
of the Raptor’s right side. The open weapons bays are very apparent.

A detailed shot of the nose
gear of the F/A-22.

Two photos of the main landing
gear of the Raptor. All is bright white with this being a very new aircraft.
