Modelling the Early Panzerkampfwagen IV
Osprey Modelling Series
Author: Tom Cockle
Osprey Publishing, 2005

The first thing to say about this book is that the author has written what will become an essential part of any German
armour modeler’s reference and instructional library. My hat goes off to
Mr. Tom Cockle for showing me something that I never knew existed. The Neubau-Panzerkampfwagon
IV, Pz.Abt.z.b.V.40 was a sight to make this modeler envious of what is possible once I get one of those kits. The other variants that the author tackled were: Panzer IV Ausf. F, Panzer IV Ausf. C and the Panzer IV
Ausf. A. He has also put a gallery in this book of the D and E. As with other
Osprey book, it goes into depth showing the capabilities of his skill and what is possible for other to achieve. The in-depth detail of this book is to me mind blowing as it has many ideas that I will be pursuing over
the next year.
The Panzerkampfwagon IV, which was the workhorse of both the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS. It had variants from both the A to the J. Tom Cockle has brilliantly
brought the variants to life and has shown me that I have a higher goal than I first started modeling. Thanks Tom.
