What a great book for the enthusiast and/or modeller of modern Soviet AFVs. Written in both Russian and English, this book
tells the tales of internal struggle within Russia. Numbers and types of vehicles employed in the conflicts are described.
The photos are the real meat of the book. There are over 175 photos (all in black and white, unfortunately), almost
all of which are in-action photos from conflicts through the 1990s. Even the most knowledgeable enthusiast may see something
new. For me, some of the highlights were seeing photos of the KMT-7 mine roller being attached to a BMR and an IMR-2 obstacle
clearing tank rolling around the streets of Moscow. There are several photos of knocked out T-72s - reactive armour and all
- from various battles. The only surprise was the absence of any photos of the BMP-3. This small disappointment is
by no means a reason not to acquire this book. Tanks in Chechnya is available via mail order from Barbarossa Books
in the UK, or you may stumble upon it in your favourite model shop.
