MIG Productions is a new company founded by Miguel "Mig" Jimenez, an extraordinary modeler from Spain. Among the products offered by
this company are a number of simple "drop-in" resin pieces designed to improve inaccurate or poorly detailed parts on otherwise
nice kits. This product, a pair of early intake fan grilles for DML's fine Panther Ausf. D kit, falls more into the
former category. While the kit's grilles are (I believe) suitable for later production Panther Ds, the asymmetrical
style featured in this set is representative of early production Ausf. Ds, including many (if not all) of those that saw combat
at Kursk in July 1943.
These grilles are nicely designed to do a straight replacement of the kit parts, without any modification to the kit
hull. All one must do (and this is nicely illustrated in the instructions) is sand off the pour stubs from the back
of the parts (which will open up the louvers), then place the parts in their appropriate positions. Both photographs
and a section of a top view of the Panther D engine deck explain how to orient the grilles on the vehicle. Casting is
flawless, and detail is very good.
All in all, a very nice product that I am looking forward to dropping onto my DML kit. Highly recommended.
